Saving Database Connection Details of a Configuration as a Named Connection

Saving Database Connection Details of a Configuration as a Named Connection

If a replication configuration specifies an unnamed set of database connection details instead of a named connection for a source or target database, you can save the connection details as a named connection.
Informatica recommends that you use named database connections in replication configurations so that you can edit them from the
Server Manager
tab >
Connections
view without opening any configuration.
  1. In the Data Replication Console, open the replication configuration that includes the connection details that you want to save as a named connection.
  2. Click the
    Switch to Edit Mode
icon button on the main toolbar.
  3. On the
    Source Database
    or
    Target Database
    tab, click
    Save Connection
    .
A confirmation prompt asks if you want to create a named connection based on the connection information.
  4. Click
    Yes
    .
    The
    New
    dialog box appears.
  5. In the
    Name
    field, specify a connection name.
Connection names can contain the digits 0-9, Latin letters A-Z and a-z, and the underscore (_) character. The Data Replication Console truncates connection names that are longer than 100 characters.
  6. If necessary, edit connection details.
If you edit connection details, click
    Test Connection
to test the updated connection information.
  7. To save the connection under the specified name, click
    OK
    .
  8. To update the database connection in the configuration, click
    OK
    .
The named connection is selected in the
    Database Connection
    list.
  9. To save the configuration, click the
    Save
icon button on the main toolbar.
